This Grooming Risk Waiver (“Waiver”) must be signed by all clients (“Client”) before any grooming services are performed by Catastrophe Cats, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By signing this Waiver, you acknowledge and accept all risks associated with grooming your cat (“Pet”).

 

1. Health & Medical Disclosure

I certify that I have disclosed all known medical, behavioral, and physical conditions affecting my cat, including but not limited to:

• Heart conditions

• Seizures

• Respiratory issues

• Senior age or frailty

• Anxiety, fear, or aggression

• Allergies or skin sensitivities

• Recent surgeries or injuries

• Medications or sedation history

 

I understand that failure to disclose relevant information may increase the risk of injury and that Catastrophe Cats, LLC is not liable for issues arising from undisclosed conditions.

2. Senior, Medically Fragile, or Special‑Needs Cats

I understand that senior cats, medically fragile cats, and cats with chronic conditions are at higher risk for:

• Stress

• Injury

• Fatigue

• Respiratory distress

• Cardiac events

 

I acknowledge that grooming may exacerbate existing conditions and accept all associated risks.

 

3. Behavior & Handling Risks

I understand that grooming involves handling, tools, and restraint appropriate for feline safety. I acknowledge that:

• Cats may react unpredictably

• Aggressive or fearful behavior increases risk

• Grooming may be stopped if my cat becomes unsafe

 

I accept responsibility for any injury caused by my cat to groomers, staff, or equipment.

4. Matting & Shave‑Down Release

I understand that matting is dangerous and may cause:

​

• Bruising

• Skin irritation

• Hidden wounds

• Hair pulling

• Uneven coat appearance

• Increased risk of nicks or cuts during removal

 

If matting is present, I authorize Catastrophe Cats to perform a shave‑down or de‑matting as needed.

I acknowledge that:

​

• Shave‑downs may reveal pre‑existing skin conditions

• The coat may grow back unevenly or with texture changes

• No refunds are provided for matting‑related grooms

 

5. Grooming Risks

I understand that even with the highest level of care, grooming carries inherent risks, including:

​

• Minor nicks or cuts

• Skin irritation

• Stress or anxiety

• Nail quicking

• Reactions to products

• Aggravation of pre‑existing conditions

 

I accept these risks.

6. Emergency Veterinary Care Authorization

If a medical emergency occurs during grooming:

​

• Catastrophe Cats will make reasonable attempts to contact me

• If I cannot be reached, I authorize them to seek veterinary care

• I accept full financial responsibility for any veterinary costs

 

This authorization is essential for my cat’s safety.

 

7. Stoppage of Groom

I understand that grooming may be stopped at any time if:

• My cat becomes too stressed

• My cat becomes aggressive

• Continuing would be unsafe

​

I acknowledge that partial or full fees may still apply.

8. Photo & Video Consent

I understand that photos or videos may be taken for:

​

• Grooming documentation

• Safety records

• Training

• Marketing or social media

 

I may opt out of public use by notifying Catastrophe Cats in writing.

 

9. Liability Release

I release Catastrophe Cats, LLC, its owners, employees, and contractors from liability for:

​

• Injuries resulting from pre‑existing conditions

• Injuries related to matting

• Stress‑related incidents

• Behavioral reactions

• Undisclosed medical issues

• Post‑grooming reactions

 

I understand that Catastrophe Cats provides grooming services at my request and that I assume all risks.

10. Acknowledgment & Signature
