A Short Story About Why We Do This

 

Once upon a time, there were cats who were told they were too difficult.

 

Too scared.
Too spicy.
Too old.
Too sensitive.

 

They were rushed, restrained, quieted instead of listened to - all in the name of getting the job done.

 

But someone noticed something important.

 

These cats weren’t misbehaving.
They were communicating.

 

So a different space was created - a quiet one.
 

No barking. No rushing. No forcing.
 

A place where cats could stay awake, aware, and in control of their bodies.

 

In this place, grooming didn’t happen to cats.
It happened with them.

Breaks were given when asked for.
Sessions ended when limits were reached.
Trust mattered more than perfection.

Parents were welcomed, not shut out.
Nothing was hidden behind closed doors.
If a cat said “not today,” that answer was
respected.

And slowly, something changed.

Cats who once trembled began to settle.
Cats who had been written off began to be understood.
Grooming stopped being a battle - and became a conversation.

This place wasn’t built to make cats comply.
It was built to make them feel safe.

That’s our mission.
One cat, one moment, one act of trust at a time.
